The neurological basis of childhood language disorders is such that the language problems are often associated with other neurologically based developmental opportunities. Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists work as part of the multidisciplinary school team, using evidence based practice to enable participation and improved access to the curriculum and school environment.
As in other educational settings therapists enhance and support student’s educational goals. Children are engaged in graded school based activities that underpin the curriculum on a small group basis to achieve positive outcomes. Therapists address functional performance and support the development of skills in sensory motor, neurodevelopmental, fine and gross motor.
